I was watching TV recently, and I caught sight of one of the cutest outfits ever. It was this amazing mixture of a baggy sweater, but a very sweet sassy skirt below it. It totally inspired me to make a styling post, so here's my take on the cute yet cozy look! I think it's perfect for weather like now, when the weather's a little warm in the afternoon and you're ready for a stroll.

To start off the outfit, I decided to pick up the basics first. I chose a simple off-white tank top, which would go under the sweater. Next up, I selected a really nice grey sweater and for bottoms I chose an adorable tulle miniskirt! I absolutely love this skirt, and it's just so sweet! For shoes, I think the outfit would look really nice with a pair of booties.

And for accessories, I had the idea of having a belt over the sweater because I really like that look. A few pieces of statement jewelry would work well, especially a chain necklace and a wrap bracelet. Last but not least, I picked out a tartan bag for all the goodies you may like to carry around! The bag is probably my second favorite item out of all of them, and it's only $37!

Ombre Nails

I feel like I'm a little late on this trend, but oh well here goes! I'm absolutely in love with ombre nails lately! I've always been a huge fan of painting my nails different colors, and I think these are just as great!

What are ombre nails, you may ask? Well from my understanding, they're nails that gradually change color. Not like mood nails, but they just start from a dark color and gradually get lighter as you go from thumb to pinky. Cool, right?! I think that they look so pretty, and they're tons of fun.

DIY Monogram Phone Case

I'm loving the emerging trend of monogrammed and personalized phone cases! The first one I ever saw was a gorgeous combo of red and stripes, with an adorable monogram in the middle! It made me sad that they are a little pricey.....but they've inspired me to try and make my own, and share with you all how to do so!

So, here's my tutorial on how to make your own monogrammed/personalized phone case for an iPhone 4/4s, or 3/gs. It can also work for other phones, Blackberries, iPod touches, and iPads, but the sizes for those will be different. Find them here!

{I'll be using a graphics program called GIMP (you can download it for free at gimp.org), but you can use Photoshop or any program like that! Paint can work too, but you can't make layers.}

Step 1: Open up GIMP, Photoshop, or whichever program you want to use.

Step 2: Make a new image that is 751 pixels wide and 1414 pixels long.

Step 3: Now it's time to make the stripes. Select the rectangle tool, change the color you are using from black to red, and just make rectangles across the whole image. Make sure they're the same size, and also spaced the same.

Step 4: Now it's time to make the space for the monogram or the name. Make a new layer (go up to layer, then select new layer). Choose the circle tool, make a circle in the middle of the background, then fill it in with blue.

Step 5: Make another new layer. Change the color you are using to white, then make a smaller circle inside the blue circle. Fill it in with white.

Step 6: Make another new layer, make a smaller circle inside the white circle, and fill it in with the same blue you used before.

Step 7: It's time to add your name or your monogram! Change the color you're using to white, then select the text tool and pick any font. For your monogram, first type the letter of your middle inital and put it in the center of the circle. Then type the letter of your first initial, make it smaller than the middle one, and put it on the left side. Type the letter of your last initial, make it the same size as your first initial, and put it on the right side of the middle initial.

Step 8: Save your image as a PNG file (just name it phonecase.png), and then click here if you're making an iPhone 4 case, and here if you're making another type of case. Scroll down to electronics, and choose the one you want!

Step 9: Once you've clicked the Zazzle link, look under Customize It! then click Add Images, click Select Images to Upload, then find your phone case image and upload.

Step 10: You might want to zoom out just once to make the monogram fit better, so click the magnifying glass with the minus sign on it once.

Step 11: VOILA! Your case is complete! Once you're satisfied, click Add to Cart then if you have a Zazzle sign in, and if not make an account then check out. The case overall is $34.95, which really isn't that bad! And it's all yours, what could be better than that?! Here's mine!

Shopping Through The Snow

   I've never been a big fan of snow. Maybe a little when I was younger because then I'd get to play outside with my friends, but now I just sulk whenever it snows because it always means I have to cancel plans. So, when it started snowing today and it was pretty heavy, I hung my head low and opted to make hotdogs for the family and just watch soccer.

   But I guess I was the lucky one, because in less than 30 minutes the snow had stopped! And I was even happier when my parents suggested that we go out and about, just to get out of the house and kill time. We ended up at a local Goodwill store, where I found the most gorgeous tan riding boots in the world, but sadly they're a size 9 instead of size 7.

   I'm not too down about it, because I ended up getting them anyway! Hey, who knows?! My feet might magically grow! And before you scold me, know that my sister's gonna be the one wearing them for now. Then it's all me.  Or I'll save them for next year. Best $15 I've ever spent! I also got some booties, a few sweaters and a striped top. After my findings, I got a little bored waiting around and decided that the best way to entertain myself was to start taking pictures of any clothes that I really liked or thought were cool. Lovely readers, here are tidbits from my Goodwill adventure day, which I think was quite productive.

How cool is that black sweater? And those flower print pants? And the cup? And the Ruehl shirt that has stitching like an address? I didn't get them, but I thought they were mention-worthy.

Don't Sweat It

I love sweaters. There mom, I said it. I love sweaters! Months ago, I'd always say no to wearing extra sweaters because I thought they were too bulky and they wouldn't go with my outfit. But, with a little nudge from my mom and a bit of self-style-consulting, I realized that sweaters are actually a wonder of fashion!

Think about it......they're warm, cozy, and they can be really cute! They come in stripes, they come in sequins, they come in neon, they come in anything you could ever want. Sweaters are the perfect way to stay stylish yet warm during the cold months and they can be paired with literally anything, snow or no snow. Also, along with the sweater family comes hoodies, which I love just as much!

The past week was quite the struggle for me. Well, I guess not really a struggle, but it's just been one where all I wanted to do was run home and sleep for ages. For some reason, I had a headache almost every day and spent most of my time trying to cram polyatomic ions into my head. But, I did have a little fun with instagram and got to catalog some of the good moments of the week!

The good times involved a new hair do (extensions, ahoy!), enjoying the amazing weather while playing lacrosse with friends, and spending Friday night on the ice with my sister! I'm ready for a really good week!

Windbreakers & Rainkeepers

I haven't shopped at Hollister or Abecrombie & Fitch in months, but back in middle school they used to be my favorite stores in the world! Go in, see some cuties, buy some adorable clothes (on sale, ofcourse. i learned to be a super shopper), and the music is just so much fun! I've slowly drifted away from my Hollister days to new favorites, but I won't ever forget the good ole days.

The stores hadn't crossed my mind in a while, but today I decided to go on their sites and see if there was anything I'd maybe like to get. And thats when it happened.......I fell upon the most gorgeous jackets and windbreakers I've seen in ages! I've been looking for a windbreaker or a jacket that's both warm and colorful, and I think I've found one of them! Though they are sort of pricy, there's some in all price ranges which is great. Here are some jackets & windbreakers from Abercrombie and Hollister that I really love, especially the Caily rain coat in yellow! It's so classic, so fun, and adorable! Perfect for spring and whatever run-arounds I have to do. If I end up getting it, it'd definitely be a splurge but I think it's worth it! Or maybe i'll wait for a sale!

Spring Has Sprung!

Teen Vogue has always been one of my favorite magazines, and I cannot explain how many butterflies I get the moment we get the mail and I see an issue in its plastic cover! Though there are no plastic covers involved, while browsing the internet I found the March 2012 issue of Teen Vogue, and I must say I love it! The lovely Kendall & Kylie Jenner are gracing the March cover, and honestly I think they're perfect choices for the cover!

Kendall and Kylie are absolutely gorgeous, they both have an amazing sense of style, and the cover is really refreshing! I think this issue is the perfect spring bringer-upper, and it honestly makes me wanna get out onto the tennis court and work out. I love the green and pink colors, and its just perfect. What do you think?

To Hold & To Style

Last week was exam week for me, and it left me completely exhausted. Sitting for two hours twice and reading, calculating, or questioning really took quite a toll on me. But I loved the challenge, and I think I did really well especially since I'm taking high level classes. So what do I do to relax? I played some lacrosse and I made some fashion sets!
My favorite thing about Polyvore and making sets is that I get to be really creative and I get to style tons of clothes, put them together in combinations I like, and come out with some really amazing outfits! There are so many pictures I can use for inspiration, and a million clothes too. It's like having my very own dream closet in the palm of my hands. Undercover Sister

For some reason, I've fallen head over heels in love with camo. Now, it's nothing bad, nothing bad about it at all, but a while back I'd just turn my head from it and keep walking. Now whenever I see someone wearing a camo hoodie or hat, I'm quick to tell them that I really like it! I mean come on, when was the last time you ever saw personalized camo?

Though I don't really see myself going on a hunting trip anytime soon, there's no reason for me not to express my new found love. I absolutely adore the idea of playing around with patterns and fashion trends, so camo is the perfect next step. I may sway a little from straight up camo to maybe just something olive or something with a print thats close enough to camo, but I think it all works out. Here are a few camo/close-to-camo clothes I absolutely love, and I honestly think I'm gonna snag that Forever 21 chiffon shirt sometime soon! I really like it because it sleeveless, and I think I'm starting my own sleeveless-chiffon-shirt club! (It'll become the sister to my star print chiffon shirt from dELiA's.)

My favorites from above are definitely the abstract print chiffon shirt from Forever 21, the camo vest which I think is absolutely gorgeous and would go so well with chinos, the olive green wellies, and the really cool iPhone case! What do you think of camo? The linen pants are really nice too, I love the belt! I like the tribal-esque pattern of the knitted sweater, but I can't choose between the two camo jackets as to which is my favorite! The one from Buckle has a really nice belt, but the Barbour jacket is cool too and I really like the colors.

Give A Little

I shared a picture of this outfit in a previous post, but I love it so much I wanted to share more. I've always been a huge fan of chinos! I love how classic they are, and how they really can go with anything! So while looking around at Jack Wills, I came across this army green pair and I fell in love! I think they go perfectly well with stripes and a sweet puffy vest. It's basically my version of the go-to not-too-cold-out outfit. Peep the ear-muffs, how cute are they?! Oh, and I'm in love with the brogues too. They're so stylish and so comfortable!

Bright Ideas

Sometimes I feel bad for winter. Does that sound weird? Well, let me explain why. I feel like winter's sometimes dubbed as the boring season, when everyone just runs inside and shoos it away. Slowly, winter is emerging as what I consider as one of the most fashionable seasons ever! For some reason, we all break out the crazy prints and colors during winter! Might it be because they look absolutely amazing against a white backdrop? I'm not really sure. But what I do know is that I really want to rock more colorful items this winter!

I especially draw colorful inspiration from Blair of Atlantic-Pacific, and I'd like to say a special thank you to her for inspiring me to bring out my bright ideas! Blair's fashion sense is absolutely amazing, and she just comes up with the most beautiful outfits! Seeing her outfits gives me a few ideas of what I'd like to try next, and it's just so much fun! Here are some bright yet stylish clothes I'm loving now, and wouldn't mind putting on.

Yellow Blazer: I absolutely love this blazer! The color is just gorgeous, and it's shape seems so fitting.

Colorful Sperry Top-siders: I finally got my pair of boat shoes, and I couldn't be happier! They are so comfortable, and because of their neutral color they go with everything. But, I really like these colorful Sperrys just as much! They're gorgeous, and the colors are beautiful. They're so fun and playful, which I like a lot.

Cut-out Red Dress: Since it's cold out, you may have to layer up when you put on this dress, but it's so pretty! I love the color, and the fact that the red is just so vibrant.

Bright Yellow Jeans: I've always been a fan of colorful jeans, and these make the cut! They remind me of lemons, and they're just sweet.

Hot Pink Hunter Boots: So apparently these Hunters were only $52......how come I wasn't notified of this? They already sold out! But how gorgeous are they? The pink is just a gorgeous color, and they look so fun and cute! I would probably pick this pink pair over any gray or black pair anyday!

Colorful Satchel Bags: How cute are these satchels?! They turn a cool classic into an even cooler and more fun accessory! I'd absolutely love one of these for school, and I think it matches my personality perfectly.

Bright Green Tunic Dress: My favorite thing about this dress is its simplicity. It's not too much, but it's just enough to get the ball rolling. It would be perfect with a pair of leggings to keep the cold away, and any additional pieces to go along with it.

Bright Printed Shoes: I love all the crazy different prints of these two pairs of shoes! The closed toe wedges are adorable, but I think my favorite pair would have to be the open toe wedges! The prints are gorgeous, and they'd be the perfect party or dinner shoes.

Go Find Yourself.

The one quote I hear the most whenever I'm listening in is "be yourself.". If someone had said that to me when I was little, I would've looked up from my Barbie coloring book and said "myself? i'm already me! who else can i be?". But as I trek through high school, gigantic Vineyard Vines tote and all, I'm starting to realize exactly what that means. When someone tells me or others to "be yourself", it's almost like they're begging you to stay true to who you really are and what you believe in because you're amazing just that way..

For a few days, I was on this wild mission to really discover myself. I'm always on these crazy missions, may it be to stop being boy-crazy, to study more for chemistry, or to eat less candy. But the one that's bugged me the most is the finding myself thing. Maybe it's because I just do exactly what I do everyday! I'm still the same girl who wakes up 30 minutes late, the one who chooses the necklace with the glass on it because it reminds me of Cinderella, and the one who prefers to use the neon colored paper for projects instead of just plain white.

I've realized that just as much as I love going downtown and hanging out with my friends, I like staying in and spending time readings my favorite fashion blogs just as much. So maybe my missions to find myself may fail, but it may be because i'm perfectly okay with where I am right now. I'm 15, and I'm here to enjoy it. I don't wanna grow up too fast.......at all. I just want to enjoy being where

I've realized that I will always be quirky, I will always say ridiculous jokes (that only I laugh at), I will always make wishlists, and I will always try to make new friends everyday. But guess what? I'm okay with that! Before, I thought I had to change myself and fit in with everyone else.....but not anymore. In school, there's pressure for perfect grades, perfect hair, perfect boyfriend, perfect everything. In life, there's just pressure for everything. I feel like everyday, I slowly learn a little bit more about how to deal with the push and pull of things.

I am me. I am myself. And like I'd say when I was 5, how could I ever be anyone else?

Citrus Crush

As I said in one of my posts from a while ago, I absolutely love citrus colors! Especially orange. It just makes me so happy! And while looking through my Polyvore items (aka my dream closet), I realized that I recently saved tons of citrusy orange colors, peachy colors, reds, and items with shimmer too! So, here are some of my favorite items at the moment (some citrusy, some neutral, all favorites), which I wish I could just run, grab, and keep as mine forever.
My favorites from below would have to be the Upwardly Mobile Satchel in Neon Orange from Modcloth (it's absolutely gorgeous!) and the Givenchy Gold Ca p ballet flats! Home Is Wherever I'm With You

The minute I saw Amanda Brooks' gorgeous rustic cabin house on Unabashedly Prep, I was in love! The cabin is absolutely gorgeous, and the interior alone is absolutely amazing. It honestly left me close to speechless, and the backdrop of snow just set it off perfectly! I love the colors, especially the large amount of browns, reds, and greens! And I really like how there's a lot of patterns in the furniture (especially the rugs & pillows), but it's not too much.

My favorite part about her home is just how simple everything is, yet how it works together so well! I think everything comes together and just has this amazing in-the-woods effect in the end, and it's just purely beautiful. I think this would be the perfect place for a winter escape, but take a peek for yourself! Oh and btw, her outfit is amazing!

L.L. Bean Boots

I never shy away from looking at new trends to see if there's anything I might want to test our, or something I may decide to pass on. Though the idea of dying the tips of my hair purple and pink has been passed, one trend caught my eye a while ago and it hasn't completely been let go since! What am I talking about? I'm talking about Bean Boots. I'm not too sure when the first time I saw them was, but I think I was browsing through Tumblr when I laid my eyes upon them. They were simply worn, with dark skinny jeans, an over-sized sweater, and a navy pea coat to match it. I was in love.

Fast forward a few weeks, and the beloved boots were popping up everywhere! I finally caught wind of their name, and they became an instant bookmark in my favorites. The Bean Boots, by L.L. Bean, are absolutely perfect. They're so simple, they are made from the finest material, and they just have this amazing preppy simple vibe that I love! It's like.....they're not flashy, they're just those shoes you want to kick the snow with, but wipe off and wear with something that sparkles or maybe something that's simple as well. From what I've heard, they're perfect for sleet, snow, and rain. Bonus! And the rubber mocs are just as nice too. Though I'm only beginning to learn about their long history, I wouldn't mind having a pair of them right by the door! And even if they're coming out with new wild colors (I heard hot pink and blue boots were next), I'd want to keep it simple with a gorgeous pair of 6" boots in tan and navy! Now if only I could stop being an avid shopper, and save up $89 to snag a pair! Could it be done? I think yes. I do have a pair of snow boots that are somewhat close to the bean boot, but mine are really heavy! I think the boots would be so much lighter!

Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe it's already 2012! When 12am hit, I sat on the couch for a minute and really thought about the past years. I don't think I've mentioned it before, but my family and I moved from Zimbabwe to the United States in 2004. I can remember that day driving to our new home from the airport, I can remember my first day in an American school, and I can remember all the first friends I made! Thinking back, the past 15 years of my life have gone by so fast and I really wish I knew where time went.

I hope that in 2012 I can accomplish all the goals I set for myself, and I will never ever back down. In 2012, I really want to try my hardest, but also focus on school and on the two sports I love the most. Oh, and of course blog now & again ;). In 2011, I lost friends, I gained friends, I cried, I laughed, I got to do some pretty amazing things (like write for Prep Talk) and I really started to grow up. I feel like I'm slowly inching my way into the grown up world where excuses don't fly, but where the rewards are bigger. I can't wait to see what 2012 brings to me, can't wait to try new things, and thank you all for your amazing support in 2011!♥

Coastal Vibrations

I haven't done an interior decor/home decor post in a while, and honestly I've missed doing them! So, I opened up some of my favorite links and started searching for what I thought would be an awesome post. I really like seeing all the prints and colors come together!

I absolutely love going to the beach. I love the water, I love the breeze, and I just love the weather! So when I was browsing Coastal Living and came across these gorgeous porches and decks, I knew I had to share them! I think they're just gorgeous viewing points to see the water, and they'd be the perfect place to enjoy the breeze, especially during summer! What a relaxing way to take in the outdoors, and I love how they're decorated! I'm all about blues, greens, and neutrals together.

On The Ride

I've been in love with riding boots since the first time I saw them. I absolutely love their simplicity, and how you can just pair them with dark skinny jeans, a striped tee, and look absolutely amazing! They're so versatile, and they really leave you with endless options for outfits!

But one little small thing.......I don't have a pair. It sort of aches my heart when I dwell on it, but then I remember that it's never too late to hop into the mall and snag a pair! Most of the pairs I really loved are so expensive, and usually even when I have the money to buy them, I go for something else. So, I've decided to make it my next shopping mission to get a pair of riding boots! Here a few pairs of riding boots that I find absolutely perfect, and I wouldn't mind either one of these!

My favorite pair from above is the one from Pacsun by Black Poppy! Not only are they the perfect riding boots, in my opinion, but the price is amazing! I actually tried them on when I went black friday shopping, but I'd already spent most of my money so I couldn't get them. They're just gorgeous! They're sleek, they're tall, they're simple. Thats exactly what I'm looking for in riding boots, and I'm really hoping to get them soon!

I'm worried they're gonna sell out, but my fingers are crossed that they're won't! They are really comfortable, and the leather is soft. I also like the pair from J. Crew, because I hadn't seen a pair of suede riding boots till I came upon these! I love the sides of the White Mountain pair, the Isaac Mizrahi ones are gorgeous as well, and I love the top of the Topshop boots! The Frye pair caught my eye because of their color! How would you style your own pair of riding boots?

I'm baaacckkkkk! After a fantastic holiday full of of relaxation and family time, I'm back to posting. Could I really even stay away for that long? I hope everyone had great holidays, and I'd love to hear about them, so be sure to comment and tell me all about them!

I decided to do a little catch-up post, and show you all what I did during the holiday days, and parts of last week. And guess what? It's all pictures! My amazing sister got me an iPhone for Christmas (my other one got stolen months ago....bad times, very bad times), so I've been trying it out and instagraming like crazy! It's that special time of the year! Yes, it's holiday time! I've been greedily awaiting it, and now that I'm on winter break, I plan on catching up on all that sleep I missed out on when I had to stay up writing essays or came home from a game late, or was running around doing other things.
My favorite thing about this time of the year is that I get to spend time with family, eating delicious food, and just catching up. I'm not sure if I'll be blogging next week, but if I don't, I'll see you all next year! I can't wait to open up my Christmas presents.

I must say, I agree whole-heartedley with it. Every day when I go to school, I find myself surrounded by girls (and guys! But that’s a whole different post) who seem to not care a bit about how they look for class. I understand that some days all you want to wear is a sweatshirt and yoga pants and moccasins. I get it. I have those days too. But I don’t let those days become every day. I think that, as of late, young people in general have stopped caring about being polished and classy and more about being comfortable.

But there is a middle-ground.

You can wear your polished basics in a way such that you still look trendy and act your age. With a certain degree of class.

I’ve said it before on my own blog, but I’ll say it again here: I believe every lady should have a solid stock of skirts at her disposal. And I believe that a pencil skirt should be a staple in your closet. A pencil skirt definitely does not have to be boring. If you’re going for a more traditional knee-length silhouette, skip basic black and go for a pop of color. This bright pink from J .Crew reminds me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde!

And for a classic black skirt that goes with everything, try a shorter length!

As far as shoes go, I really think that shoes are a great way to add some pop to an outfit. Go crazy with your shoes. Go ahead. A loafer can be updated with glitter or leopard print. Throw on some bright red wellies, just for fun. But remember, a classic brown loafer or black flat goes a long way when you’re in doubt.

All things considered, I think the most important thing is to have fun. Have fun with color, have fun with texture, with patterns, with fabric. Take the basics mentioned here and change it. Oxford and pencil skirt? Make the oxford lime green and sport a stack of turquoise and gold bangles on your wrist. Jeans and a tee? Glitter flats and a patterned scarf. Skirt and sweater? Red skirt, camel colored sweater. The possibilities are endless. Switch it up, just for the sake of not getting caught in an outfit rut.

One of the reasons I love the holidays so much is because it's the only time I can really dress up, with a perfectly good excuse! As I've said before, it's the perfect time to pack on the glitter. But, if you're not one for glitter you can always wear some color, or maybe even go for a pattern.

When I think of holiday wear, I think of dresses. May they be shiny, long, short, one-sleeved, etc. So, here are a few dresses I absolutely love, and think are perfect for holiday parties or any social event! And besides, they're all really cute! I have a few dresses that I think are strictly party dresses, and either one of these would be a perfect addition to that category in my closet!

One Sleeve Sequin Dress: To me, sequins are the epitome of celebrations. Whenever there's a party, there's something shiny there. So why shouldn't it be your dress? This dress is gorgeous, and I really love it. I paired it with gorgeous black and gold sandals, adorable earrings from Kate Spade, and a cute clutch.

Click About It Dress: Even the name of the dress just screams holiday time! This dress is beautiful, the deep red color is gorgeous, and it's just classic! It has this simple tone to it, but then the color just pops and the embellished belt is just so pretty. I paired the dress with beautiful red suede pumps, pearl/gold chained studs, and an adorable envelope clutch.

Polka Dot Mesh Dress: This dress is just so fun! I love the fact that it's a mesh dress, and the white cloth beneath it just makes the dress look even better overall! It's definitely a life-of-the-party type dress, without being too over the top. I simply paired it with a pair of adorable peep-toe bow pumps, a Chanel purse, and beautiful black diamond earrings.

Dinner In A Glass House

When I turned seven, my sister (then 11) and I had a joint birthday party. It was a big event, with all my family and friends there, and till this day I still remember it as being one of the best days ever! We got to have a huge moon bounce, two chocolate cakes, and I even got to pick out pink balloons!
Even after the parties stopped and we instead went for smaller dinners, I think getting to pick out those little things helped a little in developing my love for making things pretty and for design, and my love for party planning! In my head, the bigger, the shinier, the better!

So, those thoughts inspired my post for today. I decided to "plan" a dinner......in a glass house. You read that right, a glass house! With the sun gleaming in, reflecting off of crystal glasses and gold-rimmed plates. I'm not exactly sure where to find a big glass room, but a girl can dream right?! I think a glass room would be absolutely beautiful, especially somewhere in nature, with browns and greens all around. The main theme would be rustic, yet still very simple. You, my lovely readers, are cordinally invited to "dinner in a glass house", and for now it may just be in picture form, but one day I'd love to make it really happen!

1. The Glass House: I think that if I ever held a dinner, I'd probably end up inviting at least 20 people! So, I'd definitely need a really big venue! If I were to ever end up finding the perfect one, I'd love for it to be like the one pictured above! I'd especially love if it was somewhere near the woods, but not too crowded, so the sun can come in. It'd be perfect if the room had carpet or even hardwood flooring.

2. Rustic Table: To continue with the theme of nature and simplicity, I think a hardwood table would be perfect for the dinner! I really love this table, especially the color, and it's really long too so its equipped for lots of guests.

3. Green Flowers In Crystal Vases: I think having 3 flower vases spaced out across the table would look absolutely beautiful! There's nothing more gorgeous than fresh flowers, especially a mixture of white and green.

4. White Tablecloth: I think that the flowers should do most of the talking amongst the table, and a white tablecloth would be the perfect accent to them! I wouldn't want it to be too long though, because I'd still like for the guests to see the table.

5. Silver Chairs: How gorgeous are those silver chairs?! I think adding a touch of silver would just make everything better! The chairs would just glow, and there's something I really love about the combination of green and silver!

6. Bread & Glass Baskets: One of my other ideas would be to have two baskets on both ends of the table, one basket would have glasses in it, and another would have bread. I'm not really sure why, but I think it would just look beautiful! And of course, the bread basket could be passed around!

7. Gold-rimmed Plates: I really love these plates! They're so simple, yet they're so pretty! I think they'd go perfectly with a simple set of silverware, and they'd both look so amazing!

So, that's my hand at event planning! I really wish I could pull all this off, and who knows, maybe it's time for another birthday extravaganza! Would you come to dinner in a glass house?

Fabulously British In Jack Wills

As you all know, I absolutely love clothes and I love shopping! So, when I was asked to go visit a Jack Wills store, I took up the chance very quickly! For those who may not know what Jack Wills is, it's a clothing brand thats originally from England, but they now have 11 stores in the U.S and they're quickly growing! Jack Wills offers an amazing range of clothes for both men and women, as well as home goods like soft comforters and stationary as well! But, my favorite thing about them has got to be their clothes. Every single product in their store is so stylish, the clothing is such great quality, and everything just gives off this British-prep cool vibe that I really love!

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Liv and Rachel, Jack Wills associates, about visiting one of their stores here on the East Coast. This past weekend, my sister and I visited their Georgetown store, and I must say I had a blast! First off, the store is absolutely beautiful, inside and out! Their pink and blue striped walls caught my eye immediately, but my favorite part of the interior was the tons of pictures and posters all over! It was a double-dose of eyecandy any shopper would love!

We both tried on some clothes from their Holiday collection, picking out what were our personal favorites, and took tons of pictures. Some of my favorite things that I tried on were the insanely comfortable and cool red trousers and the Glenthorne Brogues. The Jack Wills Georgetown staff was absolutely amazing, they were there to help us and even give out opinions, but also to just talk to and ask questions about the store itself. To the Georgetown staff, thank you all so much for having us in your store, and to Jack Wills, thank you for giving me the opportunity to visit one of your stores! It was the coolest way ever to spend my Saturday, and I'll definitely be back. We both left with goodie bags that included amazing comfortable boot socks, which they said to be perfect for Hunters! Oh and, their slogan is "Fabulously British". What could be better than that?! But hey, take a look for yourself!

Capture The Moment

I finally got an Instagram, and I couldn't be happier that I did! I love the fact that now I can endlessly capture any moment I want to it takes seconds for the picture to go up! I can be seen snapping away at random times of the day, and letting out a small giggle whenever I pick out a crazy effect. It's especially useful when I'm running around, like this weekend, because then I can just snap and go.

Here are a few snapshots from the past week, when I was testing out my Instagram and getting to know it a little bit more. Peep my galactically beautiful new sheer blouse, which I've worn twice now and gotten tons of compliments on! Also the delicious red velvet cupcake I got at Georgetown Cupcakes, during my day of adventure. Oh, and my new favorite style of polka dotted socks and loafers.

Electric Feel

I'm one of those people who gets bored quite easily. If I stare at the same thing for too long, my brain wanders off and I start daydreaming. Either that, or I just get annoyed at the lack of fun I'm having! One way I find amazing to bust boredom is to attempt DIYs (Do-It-Yourself projects)! The internet is full of fantastic ones to try, and I even did my own jeans-to-shorts transformation during summer!
Most of the bookmarks on my computer are DIYs, and I'm saving them for those special winter days when there's no school and I have nothing to do, but......there's just one that can't wait! Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you what I think is the coolest DIY ever! Colorblock pants! The person who did these did an amazing job, and I love how the electric blue works so well with the color of the chinos! I can't wait to get my hands on a pair, get some fabric paint, and try my luck!

Team Varsity

One of my favorite things to wear during cold weather is a hoodie. They're so soft, so simple, and so comfortable! Aside from hoodies, I really love wearing pullovers for the same reason too!
Through my love for those two, and since I've begun to wear them a lot more, I've come up with a few creative and fashionable ways to wear them. Hoodies don't have to be worn with sweatpants or with just any old thing, they can be paired with cords and glitter as well! So, here are a few ways I like to wear my hoodies and pullovers. P.S most of my hoodies and pullovers are collegiate wear, so these outfits are based off them.

Cool Comfort: This is probably my favorite outfit out of all of the ones above! Texam A&M is actually one of the schools I'm looking to attend, and I just love their colors! I paired the hoodie with a gorgeous tartan shirt from J. Crew, adorable cream cords, leather boots, and an utterly beautiful glitter purse from J. Crew! Oh, and a cute pair of pearl earrings for some more fun!

Sweet Victory: I really like the color of the Stanford pullover, but I decided to work with the black outline and come up with a stylish outfit! I chose to pair it with black skinny jeans, adorable wedged booties, and a black bag. For accessories, I think a round scarf in a dark color would go well with it, or a simple pair of pearls too.

Classic Spirit: This is a bit more of a preppy/class ready take on a pullover, and I love it! To work out this Yale pull-over, I think wearing a striped henley top under it is a great idea! I love how the white and blue go together with the pullover. For pants, I chose to pair those two with a really nice pair of chinos. Their color just goes so well with navy blue! For the rest of the outfit, I chose a sweet pair of black loafers, and a gorgeous cream suede bag. A simple brass chain necklace completes it, and it's all set!

I'm definitely ready to stock up on more hoodies and pullovers!

Get A Clue

One of my favorite posts that I've done so far has got to be my Nancy Drew's Guide To Life Post, where I pondered the question "How would Nancy dress and behave if she was a 21st century girl?". Would she trade in her penny loafers for a colorful update? Her black flats for a pair filled with animal instinct? Throwing out the idea of just one pearl necklace, and bringing in the chunks of 3. Would she go straight to Starbucks in the morning, or sip on Hot Cocoa watching the sunrise. One thing I'm sure of, she'd have the most amazing closet ever!
I think her closet would be full of updates on tons of classics, colorful blazers, sweet colored cardigans, ruffled shirts, and a little tartan to go a long way. Here are a few items I think she'd love, but maybe I could use a clue!

Black & Cream Cardigan: I absolutely love this cardigan! My favorite part about is is the black trim, it just brings a colorblock effect that's absolutely gorgeous! It could also be a fantastic layering piece with a long sleeved shirt underneath it, and it's so classy. Very 21st Century Nancy, without going too crazy.

Teal Pleated Blazer: This blazer is so cute! I really like the color, and the shaping is just fantastic. It could be worn so many ways, with a nude shirt and navy skirt, or even a red shirt with nude pants. So many combinations, so little time.

Ruffled White Shirt: How pretty are the ruffles on this shirt?! I knew I had to include something white on the list, and this shirt fits the bill! I also like the fact that its so simple, but would definitely make a big statement.

Ruffled Blue Shirt: While looking at some Nancy Drew covers to get ideas for items, I came across one where she was wearing a really pretty blue blouse with ruffled on the front. Well, here it is! Like I said, I feel like she'd keep most of her classic wardrobe, and this definitely counts!

Maroon Loafers: I think colored or patterned loafers are a fantastic addition to any fashionista's closet, so why should Nancy miss out on the action? I love these loafers because they're actually quite simple, but they're suede and their color is gorgeous!

Leopard Print Flats: These flats are so cute! I really like the pattern, and I think they're a cool update from just any plain old flats, without being too over board. They could be her fun shoes! Amongst many, of course.

Leather Messenger Bag: Like any good detective, Nancy's gotta have a place to keep all her goodies! I love this leather bag from H&M, and I think it's the perfect bag for all her things! It's just so classic, the dark brown color, the leather, the look overall. Its perfect! Whether she'd be peeking around, or going about town.

Tiered Skirt: This is one of the cutest skirts I have ever seen! It's so simple, but it's just really pretty and can be paired tons of ways! It'd be the perfect piece to go in with an outfit for staying around the house during the day, and then with a little sequin it'd be great for going out to dinner at night! Though I'm not sure about Nancy's stance on sequins, anything is possible.

Chiffon & Lace Blouse: This is probably my favorite item out of everything on the list! This blouse is just beautiful! The chiffon nude color is amazing, and the lace detailing is so gorgeous! If Nancy doesn't want it.....I'll take it!

Leather Boots: I think that owning a pair of leather boots has become such a must, especially on days when you don't wanna dress up so you throw whatever on. The boots become the vocal point of your outfit, leaving you looking as stylish as ever! Leather boots just seem so Nancy these days to me, I think she'd love them.

Tartan Wool Mini Dress: Now that I really think about it.....this dress might be a little out there for her, but it's still gorgeous! It's full tartan, what could be better than that?! It's just a beautiful dress, and it'd be perfect for parties, with or without a shawl on top. She's gotta have a few party days!

So, those are a few items I think Nancy Drew would wear if she was around in 2011. There's probably tons more, and I'd love to hear what you all think!

Tis' The Season To Sparkle & Shine!

My favorite thing about the holiday season is that it's s a perfectly good excuse to pack on the shimmer and the crazy patterns! Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than the light reflecting on my sequin dress, and it definitely sets up a fun mood for any party I attend! So, with the shimmer-time coming up, I've made a little shiny wishlist for a few things I'd love to have! (Well....most of them are shiny) And even after the holidays are over, I can still wear whichever one of them I hopefully end up buying (splurging on)! Here's my ultra-shiny, or pattern played, holiday wishlist!

Glitter Purse: I GOT TO HOLD THIS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS CLUTCH ONCE!!! It is so pretty and shiny, I love it! The inside is nice and plushy, and the outside is just pure glitter. It's actually a shoulder bag with a thin chain link strap. What's more to love? It would make a perfect holiday and party clutch!

Short Sleeve T-Shirt: I just love the overall look of this t-shirt! My favorite part is the gold-esque part on the front, it's just gorgeous! I could definitely pair it with dark denim jeans. But would it be a worth it splurge? I don't know....

Leopard Print Blouse: I would love this blouse to go along with my leopard print loafers, and it's really cute! Its breezy, and though not shiny, it still has that spunk that sparkles have!

Hingham Boots: I know these don't sparkle.....or have a crazy print....but I am in love with these boots! Sperry stole my heart the minute they made these! I love how simple they are, the quilted body is gorgeous, and they're just perfect! I would've felt bad leaving them out. Besides, they'd be the perfect boots to wear when it's slightly snowing.

Sequin Bodice Dress: This dress is absolutely beautiful! I really like it's simplicity, the flowy look, and the nude color of the dress over all! Definitely a piece I wouldn't mind throwing on for a party or two.

Pearl Stud Earrings: These earrings are so cute! I love how small and understated they are, but I know they'd make an absolutely fantastic impact on any outfit as a whole!

Hunter Wellington Boots: Oh my.....I'm in love with these boots! I absolutely love the glossy silver color! I've always been a big fan of metallics, and these are definitely on my list of favorites! They're just beautiful, that's the full story!

Madee Loafers: I absolutely love the pattern of these loafers! The black and gold work really well together, and they're just beautiful! I wouldn't mind an additional pair of loafers in my closet.

The Endless Traveler

The minute I saw Herschel Supply Co.'s holiday lookbook while browsing around, I fell in love! The pictures in the lookbook are a beautiful ode to fall and to travel, and the styling is fantastic! I really love how simple it is, because it meshes so well with the products and I think they did an amazing job of showcasing Herschel's amazing canvas bags. I feel like their products are made for endless travel and adventure, and this really shows.

After looking through all their products, I fell in love with the large Field Pouch in coral. It's absolutely gorgeous! And I think it would be the perfect clutch! I think it's time to expand my carrier collection, and the pouch would be perfect! But really, I just love the pictures!

Above are two of my favorite products, the Field Pouch Large (how pretty is that coral?!) and the Ravine Bag in gray. The Ravine would be perfect for lacrosse games (but im worried i'd get it dirty) or just for walking around, and the pouch would be great for any outings downtown!

Current State Of Girl

I'm absolutely in love with Polyvore, and I've probably stated that tons of times. Whenever I need a little inspiration, I go onto it and start creating sets. Recently, I've been dealing with a pile of work from school and all the other activities I engage in. When I need a little break, I log into my Polyvore account and for that small amount of time, I take solace in the thousands of shoes & clothes, and all the amazing outfits I can create with them! It's so much fun, and it's almost like I'm given a dream closet (all the items I have saved), and the power to create tons of outfits and collages with them! I also really love using pictures and quotes in my sets, because it just gives off the exact vibe I want.
I think that my sets show everything that I'm really into at the moment, so lets say I find a pair of shoes that I fall in love with, then I use them in my sets to see how I'd pair them if I had them. Here are some of my recent sets! Take note of the riding boots, which are one of the items I really love at the moment, and the sheer blouses.

She's With The Wild Card

Today was just one of those days that I rolled out of bed and thought "Ahhhh.....is it time to get up already?" then slowly moved out of bed. Getting up was just half the hassle, and when it came time to pick out what to wear, it took only a few minutes to figure it all out. How about an outfit that's simple and wouldn't take too much effort, but still leave me looking absolutely chic? I mixed simple pieces with a wild card (leopard print loafers), and added on a necklace for a small piece of pizazz. My outfit today was simple, comfortable, and totally cute (at the same time!)

And though I claimed I'd be taking the week off, I decided I really wanted to get up an outfit post and leave you all with a little something more than just one post! And besides, it's finally time to show off my animal print loafers in outfit form!

In A Cocoon Opposite of Cancun

I think my blog is full of subtle hints, but I really can't wait to have my own place! I can't wait to start picking colors for the walls, picking couches, putting up picture frames, and just living in a cozy place I call my own! I won't lie, I love living at home with my parents though!

But that doesn't stop me from admiring the pretty homes I see around. Here are a few gorgeous rooms that I fell in love with instantly, and ones that sort of have the look I'd like my own house to have.
I imagine my own house as one near the beach, with big cozy rooms filled with rustic furniture, hints of color, and tons of pictures! It'll be filled with my little heart's desires!

Sheer Exposure

I absolutely love sheer blouses. From the minute I found the perfect one at Forever 21, I've been in love! I'm not sure what I love more, the feel of the fabric, or the look of the shirt! Sheer blouses are sort of risky, but they're so fashionable!
Though there's tons of ways to wear them, I always go for the simples that work best. I think it's a great idea to wear a tank top beneath your shirt, so you don't show way too much. Also, the contrast of the shirt and the tank looks amazing! (especially a white tank with a cream sheer blouse). I also really love the idea of a plain white sheer blouse and a striped tank top underneath it. That soft hint of stripes just leaves me speechless, because I love how subtle it is but how well it all comes together! So, here are a few other ways I'd wear a sheer blouse.

Plain: I really love this plain white blouse! I think it's a step above just a regular ole' white shirt, and I just like it alot! For this shirt, I got the idea of pairing it with a black & white stripe tank top. I think that the shirt and the tank top would look amazing together, especially when you can see the subtle hints of the stripes under it! For some texture and a little fun, I added a beautiful mermaid-esque sequin skirt, a gorgeous pair of dark riding bots, and a light brown bag (I know i've used it before but.......I just love it so much!)

Pattern: I think patterned blouses are so cool! I really like this leopard print one, and I paired it with just a simple gray long-sleeved top. I think taking away from the shirt would be unfair, so I like the idea of letting it be the main attraction of the outfit. To add onto the pattern madness, I chose this really cute bodycon flower print skirt, and I like the pattern a lot. I also like the idea of wearing a skinny belt over the shirt. For shoes, I like these heeled oxfords a lot, and just a simple clutch to complete the look.

Color: How pretty is this yellow sheer blouse? It just reminds me so much of the sun, summer, and just having fun! I paired it with a plain white tank top, a gorgeous red maxi skirt, and beautiful riding boots. A simple set of pearls and an adorable subtle handbag complete the look. I love the simplicity of the whole look overall, and I know that the blouse would still be the vocal point of the outfit! It's looking chic and stylish, without going overboard.

   Happy Thanksgiving! I'm so thankful to have you all as apart of my blog, and I absolutely love reading your comments and hearing what you have to say! I feel so blessed to have a place I can go to share my ideas and some of my favorite things, and meet amazing people!
   My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting together with my family, eating tons of food, dancing, and just spending time together. In about half an hour, I'll start getting ready to go to my Aunt's for the big celebration, which I know will last till tomorrow morning.
   I'm thankful for my friends, my family, my health, waking up everyday, and just being alive & having the chance to enjoy life. There are so many things I'm thankful for, and today's the day I'm going to celebrate that.

   So, happy turkey day to you all celebrating it today, enjoy it, spend time with family, and live it up!

Working The Patch

A trend that I've really liked for a while is the elbow patch trends. Jackets, sweatshirts, and cardigans with elbow patches. I absolutely love it! It's somewhat out of the box while being an awesome fall trend, and there's something sort of English/countryside about it (and I do think it was borrowed from the guys)....or maybe thats just me?
I've seen a lot of my favorite bloggers wearing elbow patch tops, and walking around downtown I've spotted a few people wearing them too. I thought, hmmm....how would I wear that? So, here are 3 of my favorite items with patches, and some ways I styled them. How would you wear the trend?

Blazer: I absolutely love this blazer from H&M, especially the back! Also, the gray color goes so well with the brown patches! I thought to pair the blazer with a striped long-sleeve, light wash skinny jeans, and riding boots. For a touch of sparkle, I added a beautiful glitter clutch to the mix. I think the stripes and the clutch stand out so well in the outfit, and can take place of any necklace or bracelet. I also really like the combination of the blazer and the boots!

Sweatshirt: My favorite thing about this sweatshirt is its simplicity, and I really love how the colors come together so well without clashing! I took the road of adding dark wash skinny jeans to the top, a simple plain/neutral scarf, a gorgeous shoulder bag, and a stack of bracelets to accessorize. My favorite part of this whole outfit has to be the Wellington Boots! I'm actually starting to like these even more, and they bring back memories of when I was little and I had my tiny pink pair(though we called them gum boots) that I'd run around in. I just love that yellow!

Cardigan: Cardigans are such an amazing go-to outfit in any closet! And I feel like this is just such a classic outfit. Denim, tartan, and loafers. But oh-no, it might go deeper! I absolutely love the deep-denim color of the shirt, and that tartan skirt is so cute! For accessories, I chose to put in a chain-link necklace for extra bling. I also really like the studded loafers, and I've recently worn mine with some socks, so I added that in too along with! The adorable little shoulder bag from H&M is also one of my favorite things in the outfit!

When it comes to decorating my room, I always try to add in little fun pieces since I can't really go all out. Something I've started doing a lot more is adding small touches of shimmer to my room. Hanging necklaces on my lamp, getting a gold frame, tying my shimmery scarf around the doorknob, etc. And though those may be a few unconventional ways to add shimmer, I love them and they gave way to today's post.
There are tons of ways you can add a small hint of shine to any room, without having to go all out and change everything in there. Adding a hint of shine can make a room more fun and add a personal touch to it, and just overall make it a cool and stylish place to be!

So have you ever thought of adding.....

A Crystal Chandelier: This might be a somewhat big job, but adding a sparkling chandelier to a room would just light it up 100%! Crystal chandeliers are gorgeous, and I just love the way the light hits all parts of it, giving off a gorgeous shine.

A Mosaic Mirror: This is an artistic way to add shimmer, especially if its little squares of glass. Mosaics are so pretty, especially on mirrors.

Shimmering Curtains: I think curtains are the vocal point of a house, so having ones that make an impact is awesome! I especially love shimmery curtains because the minute the sun peers through them, its gorgeous.

A Sparkly Pillow Cover: Adding a sparkly pillow cover doesn't take much time, and they leave your seats/couches looking absolutely fantastic as a whole! Just think, the minute your guest is ready to sit down, they see the pillow covers and are in awe! Besides, they just make me smile.

A Glass Table: I've always loved glass tables, and I really like how small and understated this one is! It's not too big to over-power the room, and it isn't exactly shimmer, but it has just enough shine!

Crystal Lamp: I am in love with this lamp! I love how the shade is black, and then it just has pieces of shimmer hanging around it. How cute is that?!

A Scented Candles: Scented candles are just great. I love how they can add a warm sense to the room, with just a touch of one scent!

Eat, Sleep, And Be Merry Chandelier: This has to be my favorite piece out of all the ones I've listed! This chandelier is absolutely gorgeous, and so creative! It's filled with silver & gold forks and spoons. Ahhh it leaves me in awe! This is definitely something I'd love to have in a dining room. This would be such an awesome DIY too!

A Metallic Seat: Adding a metallic seat to a room would be great because it's nothing too major, but it adds an amazing statement to the room! I think it's a piece that would pop out so much, and really make the room look gorgeous! I've always thought that metallics go with everything, and this seat counts too!

Etsy is definitely one of my favorite shopping sites! Though I have yet to buy anything from there, I love going on and seeing all the handmade and vintage items! Here are 4 of my top picks from my recent Etsy window-shopping. It's crazy how many gorgeous handmade items are on there, for example the beautiful tiara below! Though it's said to be for weddings, I think the tiara would be a perfect styling fix for all-white and silver outfits! I really love the Harris Tweed messenger bag, I'm obsessing over that gorgeous silver glass ring (it reminds me of the ocean!), and I like the mermaid ring a lot too! My favorite thing about Etsy is that you can find items you usually wouldn't in stores, especially if you're looking for specific jewelry or custom made clothes.

Getting The Boot

With fall here and winter soon approaching, boots have begun to replace my flats and sandals. But hey, who's complaining? They're such a cute alternative to open shoes, and really calling them an alternative seems like almost an insult!(my apologies to the boot family).
My guest post on College Prep focused on what shoes I'm wearing this fall, and most of them turned out to be boots! So, I thought a styling post was in order, to share some of the different kinds of boots I love, and a few ways to wear them!

The Rain Boots: I've seen people wearing these Hunter Wellington Boots for a few weeks now, and I actually really love them! They're so subtle, yet they just have this look about them that I adore! Maybe its the fact that they're glossy, ready for the rain, and cute! I've seen them in yellow, blue, and red, but my favorite has to be these gray ones. I chose to style them with boyfriend jeans, a striped long-sleeve, and a cable-knit pullover. For accessories, I think that a bag would be enough, maybe with a pair of stud earrings. This outfit is all about minimalism, with small vocal points, and absolutely cute shoes!

The Peeping Boots: I think peep-toe booties are so adorable and stylish! They just add a sort of playful touch to your outfit, and I really like that. For this outfit, I chose to pair the boots with leggings, a lace long-sleeved top (with a tank top beneath it), and a gorgeous cream blazer. To accessorize, I chose a stack of silver bangles, a skinny leather belt, and a studded bag (on my Forever 21 wishlist) to finish the look.

The Grungy Boots: For a day when you're feeling a little wild, I think a pair of grungy/edgy boots are the way to go! I combined these boots with a little military-esque style. I paired them with dark green skinny pants, a sequin tank top, and a cool colored denim top (from Target, where wonders occur). I absolutely love the denim shirt! I chose a light-leather bag and some cool bracelets for accessories.

The Play Boots: Here comes the exciting part! The moment I saw these neon green booties from Modcloth, I fell in love! Highlighters are a part of my every-day life, so how about the idea of making their color into shoes ? I think they'd look great with a pair of leather pants, a green bedazzled tank top, neon green belt, gorgeous neon bag, and neon two-finger ring. It's like a neon party on the streets!

Kitchen Fancy

The thought of having my own kitchen brings butterflies to my stomach! I absolutely love kitchens, especially big ones with tons of space, long counters, and big windows that let the sun in! Ever since I was little, I've spent lots of time with my mom and grandma in the kitchen, and those are some of the best memories I have! Running around my grandma's gigantic kitchen, sitting on the dark red floor and playing while they talked over pots and pans.
That's why I love them so much, because of the memories! While looking at some interior decor sites, I stumbled upon this kitchen and I instantly liked it! I love how simple it is, and how the whites and browns blend together so well! This kitchen and a few others inspired my post for today, which is what my dream kitchen (or one of them) would look like!

The main colors I chose to go with were brown and white, with silver pieces to compliment those two.

Aluminun & White Chairs: I think aluminum chairs would look absolutely gorgeous in this kitchen! There's something about their color and their look that I just love! To balance them out, I chose some really pretty white chairs to go along with that.

Brass Table: Taking a lead from the chairs, I chose a brass table as the centerpiece for this kitchen. Like with the chairs, I just love how it all looks together! I can picture them together in my head, and it's almost a match made in heaven!

Dinnerware Set: Though this seems like a random selection, specifics are just as important as broad items. I feel like I'd have all my dinnerware set out by 3 o'clock, and if I ever do that I'd love to have these white bowls and wares!

Antique Chandelier: I absolutely love chandeliers, and this one's no different! It's absolutely gorgeous!

Glass Bottles: I really like the idea I had for these glass bottles. I thought of maybe putting sand in them, then having them as a centerpiece for the brass table, along with some decorations. Or maybe I could hang them around the kitchen.....hmmm.

Kitchen Storage Unit: I'm not too big on the huge long storage places for the good plates, and I really love this small storage unit! I like how it's small, and under-stated, so it won't over-power the room and it'll make its own statement.

Ceramic Books: I had the idea of having these silver ceramic books on the counter, and tucking away family recipes and little notes between them, along with cookbooks. They're so pretty!

Cupcake Stands: Another idea I had for things to put cupcake stands on the counters. I think the sweet aroma of the cupcakes would make the kitchen smell delicious, and just have that home tone we all love!

So, those are a few things I'd love to have in my future kitchen. What would be in yours?

First off, I want to say hello and welcome to all my new followers! Thank you so much for following me, I'm so excited to have you all doing so!

I just wanted to quickly tell everyone about some changes I made to the blog, I think they'll make it all easier and reading posts much more enjoyable! First, I put up a page about Peppermint & Ivy, and a little bit more about myself on that page too. I think it's a pretty good summary of what my blog is all about, what I enjoy, and what I have/will post about.

Also, I added picture tags for some sorts of posts. There's a picture tag for outfit posts and styling posts (ways to wear denim, etc), and another picture tag for posts on Interior Design and just life in general. I'm really going to be doing a lot of Interior Design posts, because thats definitely one of my stronger interests, but I'll still have a strong dose of style here as well!

I really hope the small changes make you feel a little bit more at home here, and make it easier to find certain posts whenever you'd like! I have some really great posts planned for this week, so if you're up at 12:00AM, you'll be first to see the first one tonight.

Citrus Kisses

Recently, I've been drawn closer and closer to citrus colors! I absolutely love how vibrant they are, how sweet they look, and how they look so well put together and with other colors! One of my favorite combinations right now has to be red and yellow, yellow being the citrus color! They look so good together, and it's like taking classic (red) and the touch of a fun citrusy color (yellow), then putting them together and they result in a really fun outfit! So, here's a styling post where I put together an outfit using those colors.

For the outfit, I chose to use the red and yellow, but also pair them with a neutral color and a simple-tone. A red knitted cardigan for that touch of a classic bright color, and then a chambray shirt under it. I really love the faded blue color the shirt has! I paired those two with a gorgeous pleated yellow skirt, and I really like the zipper on the front of it! For shoes, I chose a pair of red heels, and then to accessorize, i picked a cute flower necklace for a touch of sparkle. I think the outfit would go really nicely with a neutral colored bag, and I'm also a huge fan of satchel bags so that's the one I chose. For me, the keys to this outfit was to let the colors speak for themselves, instead of letting something over-power them.

Creative Clicks: Polyvore

   One of my favorite websites ever has to be Polyvore (polyvore.com). I discovered Polyvore about 5 years ago during a boring summer, and I haven't let it go ever since! I think my Polyvore sets are the biggest window to my personal style. I could sit and talk all about things I love to wear, but my sets say so much more about it and they just express it so well in detail! I love being able to have my own little "dream closet", and experiment with all kinds of pieces!
   What I love most about Polyvore is how it enables me to draw inspiration from tons of things (pictures, quotes, drawings, etc), especially outfits worn by some of my favorite bloggers or pictures I really like. I literally sit on the computers for hours, just making sets.
   It's probably one of my favorite places to get creative, and it's just so addicting and fun! I use my sets in most of my blog posts, because I think they get the point across of the post, and they add a nice touch of pizzaz! Here are some of my favorite Polyvore sets that I've made the past few weeks.

My outfit choice for Friday swayed a little when I woke up in a fantastic mood and decided to work with the weather. I still chose to wear my winter boots(which are really the most comfortable shoes ever) and skinny jeans, but instead I chose to wear them with a flannel shirt, a thin jacket, and a few of my favorite necklaces. This turned out to be one of the most comfortable yet stylish (in my opinion) outfits ever, and I love it! It may have been really cold out, but there I was enjoying the day! There's just something about over-sized flannel shirts and Fridays. Also, a big huge shout out to my friend David for taking these pictures!

Studded Glory

There's never been a time when the words "I don't like the studs on that" came out of my mouth. In my opinion, studs are absolutely amazing! I really love how they add a certain touch of edge to clothes, and they're just so cute and stylish over all! I think before they held a stigma of only being for the "bad-ass kids", but now they can be incorporated into any and every outfit, leaving you looking amazing!

Bags: Studded bags are some of my favorite bags in the world! They're just so cute! I especially love this studded cross body bag from Monsoon, because they're little circles, and I love how they come together in little diamonds on the bag. Super cute!

Shoes: Studded shoes are just.....they're just cool! If I see someone on the street wearing studded boots or flats, I give them a little hat off cause they're just rocking them! I've got my eye on those studded loafers from TopShop. They look so comfortable, and they're such an awesome twist on a classic. Also, I like those studded boots from Forever 21. I really love the leather-brown color.

Tops: Studded tops are a little more fun, and I love how versatile they can be paired! You could go all out with studs and sequins, or add a feminine touch with studs and lace. The studded crop top from Wet Seal is absolutely gorgeous! But I also really like that red leatherette jacket from Forever 21 with the studded collar. To me, it just screams cool!

Bottoms: When I got to the category of studded bottoms, I knew I had to focus this category on the absolutely gorgeous and adorable shorts from Runway Dreamz! I love how they come in a million colors, and each pair is just so fun and experimental! I think a pair of these would be the soundtrack of summer, but sadly they're a little costly. Who knows, maybe one day I can snag a pair!

I've also started seeing tons of awesome stud-involving DIYs, so I'm thinking of doing one of my own! How does a studded collar on a button-down shirt sound?

His & Hers, Tomorrow & Today

   I'd actually had it in my mind that I wouldn't post today. I was just gonna lay on the couch, do some homework, and watch Hawaii Five-O. But then I got on the computer for my usual facebooking, and I'ts like ideas started flowing into my head! So, even though I have a some-what big post for the weekend, I decided to share some of my ideas with you all today.
   While on Polyvore, I actually got the idea of what I'm going to wear tomorrow. I decided on an over-sized "ugly-pretty" sweater, dark skinny jeans, and my snow/winter boots (I feel like the name "snow boots" make them seem strictly winter, but they're so warm and comfy so I think they're multi-purpose). Simple as that. Then somehow, I got back to thinking about an outfit I saw someone wearing that stuck to my mind. I saw this boy at school wearing something I actually really liked, and I wanted to share it with you guys! We don't talk much, so I figured it'd be awkward if I went over and gushed about how good he looked.

   So, the top's what I'm wearing tomorrow, and the bottom's what he was wearing today. These outfits are actually of no relation, but I decided to share both. I actually stopped for a minute in the hall and said to myself, "woah.....he looks nice!" His outfit was so simple, but for some reason I just liked it a lot.

Taking In The Country Air

Though I'm always one to go for color when I look at houses, when I first saw Robert Kristiansen's home, I was in love! It's so simple, but its absolutely gorgeous! The colors, the furniture, and the finishing touches are all under-stated, yet they come together so perfectly!
His home seems so peaceful and homey, and I can just tell from looking at it that it's cozy! Im usually one to love bright colors and extravagant pieces in a house, but this one's changed my mind a little. I really like all the whites, and then the calm browns too. It seems like the kind of place I'd love to go to and relax.......it's just so breathtaking! He credits his love for white to being raised in Norway, and I absolutely love and respect that. I understand the need to retain some of your favorite memories in a place you spend most of your time.

Playing With White

One thing that's really become a closet staple is a white t-shirt. For the lazy days, you can throw it on with some jeans and flip flops, and be on your way. For your fancier days, you can layer it up and go out. So, I came up with two looks to show you some of my favorite ways to wear a white t-shirt.
Sometimes people shy away from them because they're plain, and maybe it might be because they aren't sure about the possibilities such a simple piece could bring out! White t-shirts can be paired so many ways with other pieces in your closet, and can help create tons of fun & stylish outfits in just a few steps! It's all about thinking of the possibilities, thinking of how they can relate to your style, then stepping out and working with them.

Sweet Edge: The first idea I came up with for wearing a white t-shirt was in an edgy outfit. I love the idea of taking the basic-ness of the shirt, and adding tough pieces on top of it to add a new level of badness to it! Starting with some ripped jeans, and then a red hot leather jacket. Those two together are a combination to die for already! For shoes, I think some hard-core studded flats are a classy and cute way to add even more edge to your outfit, then some simple black jewelry, a studded bag, and red nail polish to complete the look.

Print & Proper: A much sweeter and close to neater way to wear a white shirt is by adding some prints, neutrals, and sequins/shine with it in an outfit. I absolutely love doing this, because it makes the t-shirt look ten times more stylish, and it just looks so good all together! This look is all about adding dazzle to your simple shirt, and its like taking the basics of a proper-esque outfit (some bedazzled, ie: sequin pencil skirt) and having a bit of fun with them. I also really love pairing boots with a skirt, so I put that in the outfit as well. I really love those black riding boots! Also, I think it would all look perfect together with a blazer! The color of the blazer is gorgeous. To accesorize, I chose a leather bag, animal print belt, and some chain necklaces with charms, and a few bangles and bracelets.

Animal Instinct

Today has probably been one of the best Mondays ever. It was just such a calm chill day, all my classes went well, and I probably had about a thousand laughs with my friends. That is what I call a good day! But it got better!

When I got home, I saw a medium sized brown box sitting infront of the door, and I knew it was for meeeee! Inside was a smaller box, and inside that smaller box were my leopard print loafers! I couldn't contain my happiness, and I definitely squealed! So after trying them on and posing a little in front of the mirror, my next instinct was to share the good news! They are so comfortable, and though they're a teeny bit loose, I love them! Here they are, and I bought from urbanog.com! They were originally $18.40, but including shipping (I got a $5 off coupon) and taxes they were $23.49. Aren't they so cute?!

My Epic Wishlist

I've always been a huge fan of making wishlists. Putting down evidence of exactly what I want, what I'd love to have. Its so much fun, and I love being able to take the craziest things and say "Hmmm.....I actually would really like this". Of course sometimes I never end up getting anything on the wishlists(somehow they all end up being super-expensive), but its so much fun to pick & choose, and dream a little! So, when I was trying to think of what to post, the greatest idea popped into my head! How about an epic wishlist?
The idea behind it was "If I could re-make my closet using anything in the world I wanted, what would I choose?", and I chose all the items below! Of course there'd be more, but I'd have felt bad bombarding you all with a bajillion clothes in one post. So, here's mine filled with pretty shoes, gorgeous blouses, and patterns I like! My favorite thing out of all of them would have to be the glitter pink & silver Miu Miu ankle boots! They are so cute! Influence

As I grow older, my style slowly evolves and changes. Sometimes It's drastic movements, and other times it's toning down old favorites to things I'd find more sophisticated. Yet, other times I sink into my seat and really think.........whats my influence? What's making me make these changes? Are my preferences changing? Or is my style changing because someone made a comment about what I wear?

For a long time, my reasons for fashionable change was because of the last sentence above. Choosing to wear certain platform boots over more-popular shoes sometimes led me down a day of ridicule, and I'd sit there for hours and wish that I could dress normal or wish that I had different clothes to wear. But thats what I liked, and deep down I felt like I should wear whatever I wanted to. Ever since then, back in the 7th grade, I've slowly seen my style slip and fall. Not in the sense that I'm not fashionable or I don't look "good", but in the sense that I'd started to conform and go into wearing what everyone else found fashionable in hopes to find acceptance.

But at 15, I'm finally starting to realize that It's my happiness that counts, especially when it's my money or money that my parents have given me. I've come to a feeling that being young means that I can experiment with different styles and clothes, and see exactly what I like! It makes me feel a little sad that for a few years, I spent money on things I probably didn't even like just to fit in. Maybe it's time I become my own influence. Maybe spiked boots aren't such a bad idea, and that purple faux fur vest I'm drooling over isn't such a bad idea either. It's time to become my own influence. And I think that's the main reason I started blogging again. To really develop my style, share my ideas & loves, and maybe find that I have likes in common with other people, that I'm not alone.

Of course, there's going to be times when I have to wear something else, or change my top to go with a skirt or with shoes. I think I'm slowly starting to find my actual influences other than myself, favorite bloggers, my mom (who by the way, has an amazing style), an awesome outfit I see on the street, or from a magazine. I really want to read the Mary Kate & Ashley book(s) Influence, because it's really an in depth look into fashion and into lots of influential people in fashion. So, what influences your style?

Nancy Drew's Guide To Life

All-Star Bedroom: Lacrosse

I've had the idea to come up with a lacrosse-inspired bedroom for ages, & I'm glad to say I finally got around to it. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned it, but lacrosse is my favorite sport. I also play field hockey, but lacrosse stuck a very big cord in my heart and I've been in love with it ever since!
To celebrate the beginning of the indoor season and the upcoming meeting for my school team, I decided that now was the time to plan out a lacrosse-inspired room! It actually took a bit more time to work out, not really because I took the route of steering the room more for a boy, but because I was a bit more detailed in the planning for this room and I wanted it to be perfect so it took more thinking. Oh, how I wish I could turn this mood-board into a real room!

The main colors for this room would be red and black, with touches of white. Two of the walls would be red, and the wall the bed is up against & the one its across from would be black.

1. Lacrosse Poster: I decided that a game poster would be an awesome vocal point to have in the room! I especially love this one from PB Teen, and I think it'd be the perfect thing to look at!

2. Simple Scholar Bed: I chose this bed for its simplicity, but I absolutely love it! Its so cool, and it really lets all the other pieces in the room have a chance to speak out instead of taking up all the attention.

3. Spray Painted Gold Sticks: Now this is my favorite part of the whole plan for the room!! I think the idea of spray-painting two lacrosse sticks Gold, and then having them crossed above the bed is fantastic! I think they would look absolutely amazing in the room, and it definitely screams All-Star!

4. Dark Chest of Drawers: I really love the dark color of this chest of drawers! It'd be a cool place to keep clothes, jerseys, etc.

5. Red & Black Comforter Set: This comforter set from Rugby is really cool! I love the stripes, and the colors go together so well and are perfect for the room!

6. Red Bedside Table: I love this bedside table! Its so small, so adorable, and the color is awesome! It'd be something cool to have next to the bed, and you can keep whatever books or magazines or anything you'd like.

7. Cool Lighting: I had the idea of having this lighting hanging above the bed, and I love how they look like little top-hats! Of course you can always have lamps etc above the bedside table or another place, but cool lighting seems like a must for an ultra cool room!

8. Red Arm Chair: For when its reading time or you just might want to chill out, I think an arm chair is a great addition to a room! Especially combined with whats next on the list!

9. Small Table: I think a little table would go really well infront of the arm chair. Sometimes I like to bring a drink with me in my room for when I'm doing homework, and its annoying to always have to reach onto the ground to pick it up. I'd love a little table to put my drink on!

10. Zig Zag Rug: One of the coolest parts of the room is this zig zag rug! The print is gorgeous, and its just awesome overall!

So, that's my plan for an All-Star Lacrosse bedroom! I personally think whoever would get this room would be lucky and really enjoy it, but that's just me ;)

Splurge Vs. Save: Glitter Loafers

Another emerging Fall trend I'm really loving is Glitter Slip-On Loafers. I think I professed my love to a lovely black pair from J. Crew a few posts ago, and it hasn't simmered down at all! They are absolutely gorgeous, and I'd never even thought that glitter could end up covering a pair of shoes, or even looking so perfect!
But, sadly, I can't pay $215 for them so I just stare at them and think "What if.....", and I think a few other people do as well! But, there's no need for us to be sad anymore! Because there's a few pairs to save the day, affordable pairs that look almost if not just as good as our beloved originals! So you be the judge. Would you rather splurge(the more expensive pairs) or save(the less expensive pairs).

The Splurges: This list starts off with what I think are the actual originals, which are Jimmy Choo's glitter loafers (for men, though I think women could rock them as well!). I couldn't find the original price for these......but my mind wandered and I figured it'd be a huge splurge! Next up would be my dream pair, a gold and black version of the Darby Glitter Loafers from J. Crew. They're absolutely gorgeous, but out of my budget. So that leaves a pair from Steve Madden, which I guess if you compare the price of these to the J. Crew pair, they're less expensive, but compared to the saves, they're a little bit more expensive. So the Steve Madden pair could be a splurge or a save!

The Saves: Here comes the goodies! My favorite pair out of the saves would have to be glitter loafers from Bamboo for only $20! Though they're not as ridiculously blinged out as my J. Crew dream pair, they're still pretty cute! Then next up is the Multi-Glitter pair from GoJane for $18, which are actually really cute! I love the whole multi-glitter look! And then in the next row, there's a really adorable pair from TopShop for $40, and to me these seem like a classy-glitter. They're not too wild, but just right. And next to those, I really love this pair from BP. Its completely glittered out, and they're so gorgeous! This pair is $60. And like I mentioned before, depending on your wallet, the Steve Madden pair could be a save for $79.95.

I Love You This Much

The rides home from school are probably one of the only times I have to just sit there and think about anything in the world. When I'm not trying to fix my goggles into place, or washing off my mouthguard, or typing up an essay, or running around filling out petitions for government class, just a time when I can think.

And today, I think I just thought about the most important thing ever. Telling the people I love just how much I love them before it's too late. I feel like lately, I've sort of been on shaky ground with myself and people around me. Not really knowing who my friends are, not knowing what I want to do, not knowing how to react to certain situations. I'd love to just have someone tell me its another sucky thing about being young, and that it'll all disappear the minute I step onto a college campus or walk through the door of my first job.

It doesn't really bug me that I'm on shaky ground with certain people, but when its people I love, it gets to me. Like my sister for example. We have our fair share of fights and disagreements, the roughest being when I was 6 and she was 10 fighting over a Barbie (this one ended in me losing a tooth.....). But sometimes when we argue, even for the smallest things, it could last for a whole day. And though I may not like how she acts or what she tells me or what she may do, at the end of the day she's still my sister and I love her.

I think I realized that the reason I let our silent-treatments/fights go on for so long is because I know.....actually I expect her to be there tomorrow to go back to laughing and joking around. I've never stopped to think that maybe tomorrow she'll be gone, or she wont be around for me to say silly things to or dance around in the kitchen with.

Maybe it's time I learn to let the little things go and enjoy my time with her and everyone else in my family, because I really don't know how much time I have with her. Next year, she'll be living on campus (she's a Sophomore in college), and I won't have anyone to go shopping with or discuss my latest boy problems with. So maybe I should let her know just how much I love her, because I love her soooooooooooooo much. Oh, and I love you all too! And i'm slowly feeling a little bit better, adios flu!

Classic Romantics

     I've spent the last three days groggy, sick, sore, and miserable :(
     Somewhere along the way, I caught a horrible cold, which has resulted in a really bad sore throat, restlessness, and just all around miserableness that wont go away. Day 1 was just an uncomfortable throat, Day 2 was a headache and soreness, & Day 3 was everything times 10. But, you know how I do, I haven't stopped with my moving about. Of course I've slowed down and spent more hours laying on the couch and whining to my mom, but aside from that I've been up and about.
     These three days have dragged by in sweatpants and hoodies, which I honestly do not regret. The comfort of a soft cotton hoodie and Uggs has done wonders for my moral, and though some may consider it "sloppy", I've resolved to thinking its okay. But even though I'm comfortable, I can't help but wish that maybe I was a little bit more dressed up.
     With weather like this (rainy, yet not too cold), I'd really love to turn to the classics. Soft striped shirts, comfortable light wash jeans, slippers, a skirt with leggings, or maybe just sitting on the couch and wrapping myself in a nice plushy blanket. I'd love to whip up an outfit consisting a mixture of dark red & blue plaid, with some subtle stripes and boots. I feel like I'm missing out, but then again, for now I think I should just focus on getting better, and staying warm. But hey, a girl can dream!

Splurge Vs. Save: Leopard Print Loafers

        One emerging trend I'm absolutely loving is leopard print, especially leopard print slip-on loafers! It seems like these graceful wild-things are gracing the feet of everyone from celebs to some of my favorite bloggers, and they truly leave me a little envious! Ofcourse I'd love a pair, but I can't get away with buying shoes for $130+.
   So imagine how happy I was to find two fantastic and less expensive versions of these gorgeous loafers! I literally jumped around from joy, because now the dream slippers are literally in my reach!
   But, I know that a lot of other people would love a pair as well, so I thought to share the news and the saves with you! You can be the judge of whether you like the splurge(the more expensive pairs), or the saves(the less expensive pairs) best!

The Splurges: Three absolutely gorgeous pairs, but sadly they're just a little bit out of my reach. Especially since I really want the shoes now, or the near future (ie: tomorrow). These three pairs are from Charles Philip, Dolce Vita, and J. Crew. The quality of these shoes is absolutely gorgeous, and I really like them all! My favorite is the second pair, which is from Dolce Vita.

The Saves: Here's my forte. These two equally gorgeous pairs are definitely in my reach, and one is by Bamboo and my favorite out of the two is the pair from Lulus (if you follow me on twitter, you know I had the greatest freakout ever when I found these!). Though at first my favorite pair was definitely the one by Wanted from Lulus, i keep changing my mind! Because actually, I really like the pair from Bamboo as well! I love how its colors pop, and it's such a close match to the splurges. With that said, the pair from Lulus, has that real "fur" look, which makes them appealing as well. This is gonna be a tough decision! The pair from Bamboo's price dropped a little, they are now $18!

So, thats the situation in the case of the leopard print loafers! Hopefully I'll have a pair by the end of the week, because I've really put them on the top of my wishlist. Which would you do, splurge or save?

The Cool Coast

When I saw Minnie Mortimer's Malibu home on the Vogue website, I was in love! Its this perfect combination of west coast beach vibe meets east coast casual, with her own touches to complete it. But what I really loved was one section of her house, where there was a gorgeous rustic table placed against the wall, and vintage photographs & a gorgeous painting she'd placed above them. On the table, there were a few more photos, a few books, and a vase with gorgeous pink flowers. From that moment, I knew I had to share it with you guys!

Here's how to recreate this lovely part of Minnie's house, while adding your own touches to it! All the pieces can be found for really affordable prices at Target, Macys, or Sears!

A Vintage Photograph: This really is my favorite part of the wall! The picture is basically the definition of cool, and it has this really awesome beach vibe! I just love it! If you can't go out and buy a vintage print, you can always find one online and print it out to fill the frame in! Super easy, and in-expensive. Also, you can put the picture in silver frame, a black frame, or whatever color you'd like. Target has great sets of frames!

Rustic Table: The table in her home is so gorgeous, and I love the texture! So, when I was looking for which table to use, I wanted something that'd closely match it, and still retain some pretty cool qualities. Though this one is a bit more polished, it's still really nice! For a table like this one, I think Target or Ikea would be a great place to look for one.

3 Small Family/Other Photos: Adding a personal touch to a room is fantastic, and I really like the idea of getting a few small frames to fill in with photos of you with people you love, or maybe even pictures you took yourself. For a set of black frames, I know that Target has a greats selection.

Storage Basket: I absolutely love this basket! Its woven, and absolutely perfect! It adds a fantastic touch of texture to the room, and its a cool place to leave some blankets or extra books for your use. One of these might be tricky to find, but I think Ikea would be a definitely place to find them, or Crate & Barrel. My mom recently picked up a smaller one at a yard sale, and though its yet to be used, I might just sneak it into my room.

Gold Frame + Painting: Keeping with the California cool theme, I love Minnie's idea of placing a gold frame in the area too! But, I thought it'd be cool to change it up a bit and add a circular frame instead! But, you could just find a standard gold one too. Hopefully they make circular paintings! I think finding a painting you really love and using that is a great idea, or maybe painting your own one.

A Few Books: Books or maybe even a small stack of magazines are good to have in a room as well, in case you get a little bored and decide to just relax and flip through a magazine. This is a great excuse for a new subscription to your favorite magazine!

Flowers In A Vase: Flowers keep a fresh and sweet aroma in the room, and they just make it seem so welcoming! When I see flowers, I smile because I know that the room's just bound to be warm and comfortable. And they add a little spring in your step!

Two Drops of Monday

Mondays are probably my least favorite days of the year, much like other people, but sometimes little things make them just a little bit better. Like today, after online work in English, my friends and I did a little blog-trotting. While looking around, I remembered a picture of a mannequin I'd seen a while ago, and the outfit as a whole was absolutely perfect, and each piece was just so amazing on its own too! I couldn't remember where I'd seen it, and the minute I got home I looked it up and found it!
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you (well.......from the workplace of an amazing designer), an outfit from Kiel James Patrick's workshop, which im thinking is Sarah Vickers inspired! Her style is absolutely amazing, and you can just tell that the outfit is all her because of its components! She has this classic preppy style, yet she always adds on such fantastic twists and great pattern mixes. I am in love with that jacket, and the skirt, and the shirt, and the bag......everything! If I could trade closets with anyone for a day, it'd have to be her.

Secondly, I wore my desert shoes today, which I absolutely love. But staring down at them while I was walking through the hallway got me thinking.......why not change the plain brown laces to some neon green or blue ones? Its a cool new touch to the neon and neutral trend, and I got the idea from Crew Cuts a few weeks ago, and I haven't let it go since! A pop of color is great, especially on shoes! Besides, I think its the cutest thing ever!

Blue Monday

My favorite color is blue, my favorite nail polish is blue, most of my clothes are blue, and the ocean is blue. I am pretty much in love with blue! There's just something about it. I like all shades of it, and I feel like each one has its own meaning. Like dark blue's sort of shady and mysterious, or it reminds me of nighttime, and light-blue is just sweet and serene, a much more calming blue.

I absolutely love this romper, my friend gave it to me as part of gifts she'd put together for me, and I'm happy she did! Its so soft, so comfortable, and its blue! She also gave me the cardigan, with navy blue stripes, which I love as well. Its just cool to see all the ways blue can be put to use, and how it can be paired! Whats your favorite color?

When I saw pictures of a Tommy Hilfiger Pop-Up store that was in England, I fell in love! I've never seen so many brights in one place, and I absolutely love it! I love the idea of turning a quaint beach house into something really fun, and playful! From yellows to reds, to pinks to greens, and everything in between! Its an amazing combination of beach prep, with tons of great pops of color! Definitely my style, and a cool representation of an endless summer. I wish I would've had the chance to go to one of the US locations during summer!
The interior of the store is absolutely gorgeous, and I love how they kept it simple and let the clothes really be the vocal point! Check it out! P.S I spy with my little eye some goods from Kiel James Patrick!

Playing With Denim

One of my favorite things in the world is denim! I really love a good pair of jeans, especially dark wash, to pair with tons of things in my closet. With that, I absolutely love denim shirts! Though I've outgrown the ones I own, seeing people wear them makes me want to run out and buy one!
What I love the most about denim shirts is how versatile they are. There's so many great ways you can pair them, and the possibilities are really endless! So, I styled 1 denim shirt 3 different ways, and came up with some really fun and chic outfits!

Denim + Stripes: I absolutely love stripes, especially a new stripes cardigan I just got. My favorite thing about stripes is just their look as a whole, and together with a denim shirt, they look great! The under-stated cool of the shirt combines with that of the skirt, and together they work together really well! Statement jewelry like a really chunky chain necklace and a leather bag can complete the look, and adding on some plain pumps completes it all.

Denim + Shimmer & Print: An outfit combination with two of my favorite things?! Woah! I am completely in love with this skirt from J. Crew! Its so pretty, and I'ts been on my wishlist forever! I think that the skirt would go great with riding boots, especially because the leather color goes so well with the gold-shimmer. To accessorize, adding a touch of print wouldn't hurt, especially by staying in the same color family you've used already.

Denim + Color, Print, & a Blazer: First off, the color of these jeans is gorgeous! The red just pops out so well, and its really nice. For this outfit, I thought it was time to add a blazer into the mix. Also, branching off from the color of the blazer, I chose these really cute pointed-toe cheetah print flats. Aren't they adorable?! I think a simple leather bag would look really nice with the outfit, and really let the denim and the jeans show off their look!

Livin' La Vida Classic

There's nothing I love more than the sweet combination of black and white, with some undertones of gray. Black and white is a classic beauty, and together they make the biggest statement without even having to say a word. So, whats the next best than a black & white living room, with a few subtle touches of gray?
I've developed a gigantic love for somewhat dark colors, and this just continues the love!

Cotton Blankets: Whats not to love about soft, comfy, and warm blankets? Especially in white! We have a basket full of blankets in our living room, and I'm always quick to grab the white one!

Stylish Day Bed: I think a day bed would be fantastic to have in a living room! Something on the side, comfortable enough to chill on on a Sunday, and good enough to nap on right after a long day.

Pearl Side Table: I absolutely love this little table! I think it'd go great especially under a mirror. The pattern is absolutely gorgeous, and it's just really nice.

Patterned Mirror: In accordance to the side table, I absolutely love this mirror! Its absolutely cool! Its so sleek as well.

Tufted Gray Chair: I really like this chair, especially its color! A few of these would do very well.

Iron Letter: This has to be my favorite in the whole room! Iron letters are really cool, and I'd love to have one that lights up right next to pictures up on a wall.

Weathered Window Pane: I really like the texture of this window pane! Such a great way to let the sunshine in, and keep a nice calm natural effect in the room as well.

Plain & Patterned Pillows: You all know that I'm a sucker for patterns, especially on pillows! But, its always good to keep a bit of a balance, so I added the black pillow in too.

Lotus Curtains: I really like these curtains! They're so pretty, and the pattern is great.

Black Frames: Colored frames make an amazing statement in a home, especially in black. I really like these frames because of their assorted sizes, and they'd be something lovely to walk up to everyday.

This morning, one of my really good friends surprised me! She came over to my house, rang the doorbell, and had presents and a ukelele in hand! After singing an acoustic version of one of my favorite songs, we caught up, shared a bunch of laughs, until sadly she has to go. But seeing her just made my entire week! She moved away a few months ago, so we've always had to call each other or text, or facebook. But everything's better in person! Knowing that I have such an amazing friend who'd make the trek over warms my heart. Honestly, she's like a sister to me!

Living A Girl's Adventure

Recently, we took a huge exam in school called the PSAT, which would basically test our English and Math levels. But, the scores would then be put into our permanent records, and later be seen by the colleges we applied to, and any scholarship organizations. That really got me thinking. How am I gonna get where I want to go? What if I want to get there now?

If you ask me what I want in life, i'll tell you the truth. I want to go to a really good college, study Computer Science & Graphic Designing, and hopefully play lacrosse or field hockey. Then after that? I really want to work for a magazine, creating pages, booking models, writing articles, it all sounds so fun!

But what about now? What am I gonna do now? Is it completely wrong and backwards to want to follow your dreams before you even formally go to learn the tools you need for them? I want to work in fashion now. Like literally, right now. I'd love to hop on a plane and go to LA or New York and watch fashion shows, I want to decorate homes & stores, or visit showrooms and decide what a major company should buy, or even style photoshoots and so on. There's just so much I want to do!

I want to live the biggest adventure of my life now, because I feel like that's what I've been working for for ages! Thats really my biggest motivation for blogging. I blog so I can get my skills and talents out there, so I can meet and interact with other people who share my interests, and so I can really learn a lot more things!

What keeps me calm and keeps me grounded is the fact that I have a long way to go, but I'm slowly getting closer and closer each day! Through blogging, I've had some of the greatest experiences, gotten the most amazing chances (like getting to write for Prep Talk), and met the greatest people!

Honestly, there's tons of stuff Id love to do right now! Working in fashion, playing lacrosse for a Division 1 team, traveling the world, everything! At the end of the day, I know that if I keep working towards what I want, i'll get exactly where I want soon and it'll be worth it.

I know this post may have just been one big ramble on about irrelevant things, but I felt that somehow I had to get out my thoughts in hopes that someone would read them and be able to connect with them.

Falling For Fall

One of my favorite things about this upcoming fall is the fact that its all about bright colors, and having fun. But with those bright colors, I still yearn to wear the neutrals and the famous fall colors, the browns and the oranges, the usuals I guess you could say. But, with those usuals comes a lot of new items i'd love to wear this season! Sheer blouses, printed skirts, even hand-knit sweaters! Also, I'm absolutely loving tons of sparkles and little bits of shine! Where the leaves fall from is my limit.

Off Orange Blouse: I saw a blouse just like this one at Forever 21, and I really regret not buying it! I love the orange color, and its so gorgeous! I think the off orange color or a mustard color is really in this fall season!

Shiny Open Toed Sandals: There's nothing wrong with a little sparkle in your days! I really love these sandals! My favorite part of them is the silver toe part, its just so pretty! These would be a great way to bust through the sometimes boring days of fall, and they're just so fun!

Tartan Travel Bag: This bag is absolutely gorgeous! I love the mixture of oranges and navys together, they just work together so well! Though its a travel bag, i'd definitely use it when going out as well!

Yellow Cotton Pants: I absolutely love these pants! I own corduroys in multiple colors, but I definitely want a pair of these as well! They just look so comfortable, and the color is really nice.

Statement Necklaces: Combined with the usual colors of fall, statement necklaces are a great addition to any outfit! I love the fact that they have a lot to say, but they say it in such few terms. Basically, they're pretty, and on top of a gorgeous yellow sweater, they're even better.

Gray Alpaca Sweater: I absolutely love this sweater! Its hand-knit, and I really like the pattern! I bet its absolutely warm and cozy, and whats better than that?! Also, I love the gray color!

Tiered Dress: This dress is absolutely gorgeous! I bet it'd be a blast to dance around in, and its just the cutest thing! Its such a great sparkle piece for a night out, and you could easily pair it with some leggings and be on your way.

Printed Calf Skirt: I absolutely love this skirt! The gradient of all the colors is absolutely gorgeous, and over all its so pretty! The length is perfect, and it'd be the perfect addition to any outfit you want for a calm day.

The Calm After The Storm

     This has probably one of the most hectic weeks ever. My aunt had a liver transplant, and so we've been rushing to and from the hospital daily, visiting her, and seeing how she's doing. Thankfully, she's doing much better and she's slowly recovering. We know its going to be a long and tough process for her to fully recover, but we're taking it one step at a time.

   After all the craziness of trying to see if the doctors knew what was wrong, to finding out she needed a new liver, to trying to find a donor, honestly i'm exhausted. Though the adults handled all that, we the children were left with the mental stress of sometimes not understanding what was happening, and our worries were much higher.

   What I love about this home is how calm and peaceful it is. Just from looking at the front view, I can honestly tell that the twinkle of the sun hitting the window & the sound of the waves crashing outside probably brings the most amazing peace to the family that resides in it. I absolutely love the subtle blues splashed all over, they're just perfect.
   This is exactly what my whole family and I need. A break, somewhere nice, somewhere quite. But for now, I think I'll find my own little piece of solace by day-dreaming about this home, about the few miles it'd take to walk from there to the beach, and about how less stressful everything will be once my aunt's fully healthy, and once we've all rested a little bit more. I just want the calm after the storm. We can't go back to before, but we've only just left the storm.

Choose Your Grays Wisely: Free People Oct. 2011

One of my favorite brands and stores of all time is Free People. I absolutely love the fact that they play around with colors and patterns, and the result are all these amazing pieces I drool over and paste onto wishlists, in hope of them one day being mine.
For a little while, I sort of lost touch with my love for Free People. It didnt exactly disappear, but it was gone. But last month, when I received the September catalog, my heart fluttered yet again. And then this month, when the October Catalog came, all hell broke loose! I absolutely love all the pieces in their October collection. The patterns are perfect, the colors are amazing, its all just fantastic!
So I decided to pick out some of my favorites and share them, and it turns out that all my favorites are either gray/silver, white or black, or a combination of those. Go figure! But either way, these 6 caught my eye, and I really like them a lot!

Metallic Tweed Shorts: I'm the biggest fan of anything shiny, and these shorts definitely make the cut! I absolutely love their look as a whole, and the combination of tweed and metallic is just fantastic in my opinion! How cute are they?!
Melting Point Ankle Boots: OH. MY. GOSH. These boots are absolutely gorgeous! They honestly just leave me speechless! I absolutely love the metal tip, and the two-tone look over all!
Cropped Pullover: This pullover is really cute! I love the fact that its cropped, and it'd make a great combination with a tank top or a long sleeved for the chilly days ahead.
Miles of Lace Dress: This dress is really pretty! I love the lace, and it just looks so well put-together!
Gold Rush Dress: Oooo perfection! I really love the way the shiny parts are knitted through-out the dress, and the dress' look overall!
Retro Tapestry Coat: This coat is so gorgeous! I really think this is my favorite out of all 6, or maybe it's a tie between the coat and the ankle boots! Honestly, there's just something about it! Its so beautiful, and I love the black & white color combination! Its so city, so stylish, so great!

Its finally the weekend! I've been looking forward to is so much this week! I'm completely drained from field hockey, school, and all I want to do is get some rest. But, thankfully today we didn't have practice, so in celebration of the upcoming weekend and freedom, I finally got to wear something a little nicer than a jersey, and decided to make it an outfit post! So, here's what I wore today! I really love the desert shoes, which I got a few months ago but am getting around to wearing them now.

Loafing Around

One of my favorite styles coming out this fall are penny loafers and slippers! But, out of those two my favorite pick would have to be penny loafers! They remind me so much of Nancy Drew, and I love seeing how people put an outfit twist on such an amazing classic, and put their own style into it as well!
But also, I love seeing all the new styles and kinds of loafers coming out of the woodwork! Colorful pairs, animal print pairs, plaid pairs, platform pairs! The works! So, I decided to style some of my favorite new styles of loafers, and maybe give you guys some ideas of what you could rock this fall to stay fun and stylish.

Called Upon Classics: This outfit really pays homage to the classic loafers, and the styles they accomodate when worn. I really love their simplicity, the color is absolutely gorgeous, and the make is really nice too! Also, take note of the adorable earrings put in with the outfit! These clip-on knot earrings from Kiel James Patrick actually remind me of waves and of the sea, but I just love their style! Especially the brass part wrapping around the striped part.

Sweet Beginnings: This is when you really start to see the changes that have come upon loafers in the years. I really love the cute bubbly pink color of these ones from J. Crew! Its so different, yet just absolutely adorable. Paired with items of colors just like it, such as a cool blazer is a great idea. To add even more fire to the blaze, adding a nice sparkly top is a great idea! Why not have fun all the way?

Animal Instinct: These loafers in my opinion are absolutely amazing, and they are my favorite! This pair is just so gorgeous, and I'm a huge fan of leopard print so I fall in love with them even more! I thought to pair them with white cords, for warmth, comfort, and color, and then a black blouse just for a bit more effect. To cool it up, I added a dark-cream cardigan/wrap in case the day turns chilly, and you can still keep in check with the theme of a cheetah!

Pumped Up Simples: I've started to take a liking to the heeled version of loafers, and I think lots of other people would agree! The fact of taking such a classic, then adding a different dynamic to it amazes me! But keeping it the exact same, and keeping its elements is what got me hooked! Besides, they're just really cute! Maybe something i'd wear to an awards ceremony or a dinner, but they'd be a nice addition to my closet!

Autumn's Hard Earned Harvest

While doing my browsing through Matchbox Magazine, I came across this absolutely gorgeous plaid throw, and I was in love. Unlike the freezing cold weather and horrible rain outside, this throw looks so cozy and warm, and I just want to wrap myself in it. After a daydream or two, I got to thinking and decided that my new post would be a styling post based on elements from the throw and from Autumn (something prep-inspired, stylish, and subtle with neutrals & a touch of red) and a mini-interior decor post (something rustic(though not exactly illustrated), urban, and maybe a little antique).

Outfit:
1. Short Tailored Trench: I absolutely love this little update on the trench coat! Its so simple, yet it makes just as big of a statement as its longer counter-part.
2. Skull Black Slippers: In all honesty, I couldn't pick between slippers or boots, so I decided to put up both. I really love these slippers, and the skull design is just absolutely cool! Its almost a rebel yell on a really awesome classic.
3. Knit Sweater: Not much to say about this, but I really like the cream and white, and the fact that its striped!
4. Highwaisted Jeans: I really love the dark wash of these jeans, and I really think you can never go wrong in dark jeans.
5. Black Leather Riding Boots: Maybe this is when I should explain myself. From the moment I began working on the outfit, I knew I wanted black shoes. I couldn't decided which pair, but I absolutely love these riding boots! They really leave me speechless.
6. Cashmere Scarf: A red/maroon scarf, a small piece with a big statement.

Interior:
1. Eat Sign: For some reason, I just like this sign! I'd love to have it hung up in my future kitchen, and I love the dark metal color.
2. Antique Crystal Chandelier: This chandelier is absolutely gorgeous! I love the mixture of brass and crystals together, it just leaves me in awe.
3. Spider Web Accent Chairs: I think chairs with cool designs are amazing in any home, and this one doesnt differ!
4. Cherry Finish Mirror: This mirror is absolutely lovely! I'm developing a liking to full length mirrors.
5. Velvet Chaise: I absolutely love this chaise! From what I can see, the velvet is so pretty, and it just looks so soft and comfy.
6. Mixed Photo Frames: Whats not to love about classic black photo frames to fill with memories?
7. Sea Salts: I find sea salts really interesting, especially the colors! These would make an amazing way to decorate your home.
8. Plaid Throw: The throw that started it all! I absolutely love it! Its so gorgeous, it looks so cozy, and it just brings so many different elements together in one!

Whitewash: White Year Round

One of my favorite colors to wear is white, especially white trousers. I always have fun pairing them with colorful pieces, and to me they become the pop of color amongst others. But another way I love to pair white trousers is with other white pieces, creating an all-white outfit. Yes ladies & gentlemen, it can be truly acceptable to wear white after labor day. Or maybe i'm just a rule breaker?

In my opinion, every day is the perfect time to wear white, though sometimes I add a little twist of my own so I don't look too washed-out/have a white overload. And also, its a perfect way to balance out your outfit. How so? By adding a touch of gray, or a touch of sparkle.

*You could definitely wear an all-white outfit, but if you decide to go for a twist, adding a small touch of gray or sparkle is the perfect way to add balance to your outfit.

Outfit #1: For my coveted touch of gray, I chose this lovely slouchy gray pullover. Its just so attracting, and it looks absolutely comfortable. You could easily keep it on, then take it off whenever you'd like and you'd still have a fitting all-white outfit. I also chose a simple white shirt, its probably one of the easiest picks, and also a pair of wide-leg trousers. Im thinking you could tuck in the shirt into the trousers, and be on your way. My eye caught onto these gorgeous heeled brogues, they're so perfect! I absolutely love the laces, and their look overall. A nice off-white clutch completes the look, though you could add on some jewelry of any sort.

Outfit #2: Now, this outfit definitely has a lot more touches of gray, black, and sparkles, but I love it just as much! I started on this one with a white blazer, and added on a white blouse with some pretty star designs on it. For this outfit, I chose a maxi skirt instead of trousers to just show a different idea. For shoes, I decided to go with these J. Crew slippers I've been in love with for ages. How gorgeous are they?! I think they could be my one and only splurge for the next year or so. For a bag, I really like this vintage shoulder bag, especially because its woven.

Sweet Beginnings

(red velvet cake with chocolate & cream cheese icing)

One of my favorite treats in the whole wide world is Red Velvet Cake! Its absolutely amazing! So yummy, so sweet, and a little tang from the cream cheese icing! Ive actually never had it with cream cheese and chocolate icing, but the picture was just too good to resist!

Anyways, there's nothing more comforting than your favorite food right? It brings out good memories, brings up happy emotions, and just makes you feel so calm & collected. So, what about a room based on and inspired by your favorite foods? If you love mac & cheese, how about a yellow and white room with hints of orange? I decided to create a room based on Red Velvet Cake, and I actually really love the idea! I mentally high-fived myself.

*The basic colors of the room I chose were white and red, but I decided to go with some natural/neutral tones too so the room wouldn't be too light.

Brass & Crystal Chandelier: I absolutely love this chandelier! Its so pretty, and it's so classic and fancy, yet not too fancy. Just right.
Printed Pillows: Red Velvet Cakes are sweet and fun, so why not have sweet and fun pillows! I love pillows with words, crazy textures, or even just a simple big heart! Whatever turns the corners of your mouth up.
A Sleeper Sofa: Not gonna lie, I chose this sofa just because I love how it looks! It just looks so soft and plushy, like something i'd love to come home to and to just fall asleep on while Survivor plays in the background.
Printed Rugs: Im a huge fan of prints in clothing, and also in pieces for the home. I absolutely love these printed rugs, especially the second one with all the cool patterns!
White Chair & A Half: Appareantly, a chair and a half is literally that......a chair and a half! I guess its just a small couch. Either way, I really love the white color with the black legs, and it just looks so perfect!
Wood Table: I absolutely love this table! The color is so perfect, and the little drawers on the side are really nice too! It just looks so simple, but it has the ability to make the biggest statement in the room. It definitely stands out, kinda like the red in the cake!
Red Chairs: The simpler chair would work best for maybe a dinner table, or just on opposite sides of the room. The arm chairs would work perfect on opposite sides of the room in a living room, or maybe next to each other. But I really love the velvet fabric, and their look as a whole!

Sweet 15

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Today is my 15th birthday! Its finally here! I've had an amazing day so far, and I'm just so happy to have amazing family and friends to share it with!

Now that I've turned 15, even though I know its not the biggest age, I still feel like I've matured so much. I look back to how I was when I turned 14, and I really am different now.
I've learned what to do, what not to do, who to trust, who not to trust, everything in between! Growing up really is great, and even though i'm leaving behind the number 14, I hope the number 15 brings me even more fun times and joy too! 9 months till I can drive, oh yes!
Also, I'm getting older and learning a lot of new things, and hopefully this new knowledge gets me where I want to go, and makes me happy in the end. Now i'm really starting to think about what I want to do, especially school-wise, and i'm just hoping for the best in everything. I have so many goals, and the list just bugs me so much, but with hard work ill get where i want soon enough.

So, i'm off to enjoy whats left of my sweet first day being 15! Taylor Swift song......maybe included.

Once Upon A Dance

(Three days until my birthday! Woop woop!, hello sweet 15!)

Aside from looking forward to my birthday, another pretty special event is coming up this school year. That, ladies & gentlemen, would be my homecoming dance! I didn't go to homecoming last year due to something that came up, and I felt like I missed out so much! But, this year, I am definitely going!
The one hurdle I have yet to conquire is finding a dress, which is actually sorta hard! There's so many options, and of course my fear of having the same dress as 5 other girls comes into play. So, I sat myself down to try to find a dress, and instead came up with basically a wishlist/dream-dress list. Though it might actually be irrelevant, here are some dresses I would absolutely love to wear to homecoming! If I set my mind to it, maybe I could buy one of them! Also, these are the styles for the actual dresses I want, and its a good way for me to get ideas.

Dress #1: I really like this dress! For some reason, i've had a thing for white dresses for a while, and the simplicity of this one caught my eye! Not sure if I can get jiggy in a strapless dress, but either way, its perfect!

Dress #2: This is actually my favorite dress out of all of them! The jeweled top and the flow of the bottom part caught my eye, and I love it! Its just enough sparkle, yet its not over the top! I know i'd be so comfortable in the dress, and i'd really feel like the Belle of the ball. Besides, white dress + sparkles = happy me!

Dress #3: This dress is just breathtaking! I love how long it is, and the lace collar is just gorgeous! Maybe this dress is a bit more prom-y, but its so pretty I just had to add it onto the list!

Dress #4: I fell for this dress a few months ago, and it just pops up everywhere I look. Its so beautiful, and the colors are fantastic! I absolutely love the ombre effect, and the bandage style is really chic and cool, and in all its a fantastic dress.

Dress #5: Hello glitter! This dress is absolutely amazing! Throw simplicity out the window, because this dress might have just stolen my heart! There's glitter everywhere, the cut is perfect, and it really is the great party dress! The actual style of a dress I want for homecoming is full-glitter and sparkle, and this makes the grade! Oh, how I wish it was mine.

Dress #6: I chose this dress for its simplicity. Its not too dull, yet its not too out there. Its just so calm, so neutral, and I think it would go really well with my skintone!

Dress #7: First off, I love the nude color of this dress! Then the addition of some sparkles makes me like it even more, and in all its just such a pretty dress!

Dress #8: Id like to think that this is more of a playful update on the sleeved glitter dress, but I like it just as much! The gold color is so pretty, and it'd just make me shimmy the whole dance just to see the lights reflect! Its a really pretty dress, and the sleeve-less look works well!

A Little Bit of Everything

One of my favorite things to do is play around with pieces from my closet and pair them in different ways, especially mixing patterns together! Its such a fun thing to do, and some of the combinations become life-long loves you just cant get over! So, I decided to share some of my tips/tricks for mixing patterns, and also mixing colors, and hopefully you can incorporate them into your closet too! It will almost feel like everything's brand new!

Tip #1: When I mix patterns, I kinda try to color-block. I dont like how it looks using patterns with like colors, so I try to use the next color over (yellow + orange) or (blue + green) etc or just different colors in all. Also, I think its a great idea to also have one or two neutral or single color pieces in the outfit, like a single colored scarf & bag, or just plain brown boots or simple shoes. The single colors pop out, and may even tone down an outfit if you pile on the prints.

Tip #2: From what I've seen, gingham & flower print go together really well, cheetah & flower print go together well, stripes & flower print go together perfectly and I love the look with cheetah print added on too.

Tip #3: If you want to use the same pattern twice, its a good idea to use it in two different fabrics or colors. Like for example, wear a cheetah print cotton skirt, then a denim cheetah print jacket. Or, a yellow & black cheetah print skirt, and a blue & white cheetah print jacket, both made of denim.

Tip #4: For accessories, I usually try to keep it simple when I mix together patterns. I'd hate to take away from each piece, and I usually worry that the jewelry will get lost in the sea of colors. But, you can go with your instinct and add more flare if you'd like!

Bless Your Rustic Heart

After a tough day at field hockey practice, I literally just sit on the couch for an hour and stare blankly at the T.V. But most of the time, I think. I think about random things, important things, maybe even things that don't make sense to me. But the past few days, i've been thinking of looking at more rooms and houses. To me, its almost as if looking at interior decor and design is a soothing experience. It turns any frown I may have upside down, and once i've had my fair share of drooling over amazing ideas, i'm as happy as can be!
So, when I stumbled upon these rooms a few days ago, I was ecstatic! Appareantly, H&M has a home section now. Sadly, its only in the U.K! Either way, I was in awe! The over-all theme of the home is this sort of rustic feel, with tons of hints of autumn and fall to fit into the season and the theme! I really love all the neutral tones, but hey, see for yourself!

Two-Tones, One Heart

A while ago, I fell in love with these two tone platforms from Marni after I saw them worn by a couple of my favorite blogs. They're absolutely gorgeous, and the two colors compliment each other in a stylish clash that leaves me breathless! While on the search for the exact pair, I actually found another version of them! So, here's a little styling post I did using two pairs of two tone Marnis. They're definitely on my wishlist, they're amazing!

Peaches & Cream:
For the record, this pair is my absolutely favorite! For some reason, the brown reminds me of Vanilla Extract and the pinkish-orange reminds me of ice cream. Go figure! I chose to stick with the peach tones, and picked out a gorgeous peach shirt, and a dark coral maxi skirt. The pink suede bag was a must in my opinion, because its been the apple of my eye for ages, and I decided to share the love. I thought that coral and nude nailpolishes would go best with the outfit, and simple gold accessories could complete the look.

Full Moon:
For this outfit, I wanted to do something a little on the dark side, yet still fashionable and chic. I chose to start with a striped top, and next I picked out a beautiful blue-to-white maxi skirt! I love the bleeding effect. Next up, I picked out a black leather satchel. I chose simple accessories for this look too, because the stripes were already powerful, so there wasnt too much need for pizazz. Some pearls and a cross ring would be perfect. I wasnt sure about nail polish, but a black color would be nice.
